Commentary
It was a fantastically entertaining match that ended with both sides earning a deserved point. Noble’s first-half penalty was cancelled out with 15 minutes remaining thanks to a wonderful Zaha goal – though the deflection off the foot of Diop was surely the crucial touch. West Ham looked happy in the second half to attempt to see out the 1-0 win, which allowed Crystal Palace to come more and more into the match – with the pressure eventually taking its toll. Zaha and Van Aanholt linked up brilliantly, giving Fredericks a very tough afternoon. West Ham played very well, but their attacking intensity certainly waned in the second, making Palace always the likelier of the two to go on and win the match after the equaliser. Both managers should leave Selhurst Park relatively happy with the spoils shared.
